We run adventurous outdoor activities for organised groups of young people or adults. Typically, these groups come from the NCS Trust programme, schools, sports clubs, youth groups, Combined Cadet Forces (CCF) and adult sports or corporate teams. We are unable to run activities for individuals who are not part of a group.
The shortest experience we offer is half a day for adult groups and one day for young people. We will build a timetable for you and your group based on your objectives and participants. We also offer multi-day experiences up to five days or more.
We are flexible and can cater for different group sizes. The minimum group size is normally 30 participants. We can comfortably accommodate groups of 300+.
All adventurous activities are led by a team of experienced adventurous training instructors operating under the leadership of our Chief Instructor and Head of Centres. All instructors have at least the minimum qualifications required for the activities they are facilitating, with many holding advanced qualifications that far exceed what’s required for an activity centre. Our instructors’ job is to keep you safe, challenge, guide and instruct you, and ensure you have fun. All staff are enhanced DBS checked and experienced at working with young people.
The clothing and equipment you require will depend on the type and duration of experience you are undertaking. Your group leader will receive a preparation pack which includes a kit list. If you have any problems obtaining any of these items, just let your group leader know.
Our activity centres have individual showers with unlimited hot water and flushing toilets. Professional catering facilities mean we can prepare a range of hot and cold meal options for your group. Large, covered spaces provide a great central point for activities, meetings and meals. There are additional break-out spaces in the woods which you’re free to use if available.
If you’re camping overnight with us, you’ll be put into groups by your team leader. Each group will be allocated a spacious bell tent in a single-sex area for your school or organisation. These tents are built to our own design and are fully waterproof and fire resistant to ensure a good night’s sleep. They have insect screen doors and vents and a zipped-in groundsheet. Individual tents are available for staff and young people that require them. You’ll be served a hot meal (with vegetarian, Halal and vegan options if requested in advance). Your programme may include evening activities such as team games and a campfire. Throughout the night, a member of the Level Up Outdoors team will be on duty and available on an emergency mobile phone number.
A key part of our experiences is that they take place outdoors and in any weather! Whilst the time of year will dictate the weather to some degree, we suggest you come equipped for all seasons in case there are unexpected changes. We have covered spaces for group activities and sturdy tents to keep you dry at night.
We hold a licence with the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA) which is part of the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). This is renewed annually. We also hold a Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge and an Adventuremark. These endorsements reflect the expertise and experience of our team and the quality and safety of our delivery.
You do not need insurance to take part in an experience. Safety is our number one priority and Level Up Outdoors is covered by £5m public liability insurance.
